The Black Pine is a small growing variety of pine tree. There is one species known as the Japanese Black Pine that has an irregular, often leaning shape to it. It does lend itself to a Japanese garden but is not only used in that type of setting. If you need a slow growing tree to fill a tight spot, this may be a good selection.

The tree has small needles and small pine cones so the mess from this type of tree is minimal.
